Volunteers Sought for North Dakota Chokecherry Festival

Williston, N.D. – On August 7-8, the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau will be hosting the North Dakota Chokecherry Festival in Williston. This festival features a variety of free, family friendly entertainment and activities including live music, pancake breakfast, costumed characters strolling through the park, an outdoor movie, 5k fun run, 1000 Burger Feed and much more. The North Dakota Chokecherry Festival is held to honor the accomplishments of youth and our state fruit, the chokecherry, which was designated by our state government upon written request by a group of persuasive Williston sixth graders.

To ensure a successful and fun event, the CVB is seeking 15-20 adult volunteers during the festival for 3-4 hours on Saturday. Volunteers can be individuals who love to help out, or employees acting on behalf of their company to help us offer an event our whole community can enjoy. Some examples of what volunteers may be asked to do (or can request) include working in the Chokecherry Shaved Ice Stand (proceeds benefit the festival), helping lead simple activities in the Kid Zone on Saturday, helping to keep tables clean during the pancake breakfast, or assisting a staff member as they lead the chokecherry pit spitting contest.

If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch; we would love to meet you. Volunteering for your company? Let us know! We would love to list you as an event sponsor if your crew is able to fill some volunteer shifts for the festival.

If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help at the North Dakota Chokecherry Festival, contact Sabrina at the Williston CVB at 701-774-9041 or [email protected].  Information can also be found on the North Dakota Chokecherry Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ChokecherryFestival).
