Run For Help Zombie 5k This Weekend

Posted: Oct 21 2014
Williston, N.D. – The Williston Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) Basin United Way of Williston are partnering up for the 2nd Annual Run for Help, a 5k fun run where participants are chased through a zombie infested course in Spring Lake Park.

The 5k Zombie Challenge is scheduled for October 25, rain or shine, at 5:30pm. Registration is at 4pm at the keel boat building in Spring Lake Park. A chili feed is scheduled for after the race and participants and observers will also enjoy music by Saucy Jack DJ Service. Runners can participate either solo or as part of Zombie Outbreak Response Team (limit 6 per team) for a $5 discount. Volunteer zombies are also welcome to participate and chase the runners. Zombies are asked to report to the keel boat building at 3pm for instructions. Proceeds from this fun run benefit Williston Basin United Way.

Zombies are volunteers on a mission to snatch the race flags from around a belt each runner picks up at the beginning of the race. Runners who successfully navigate the course with a flag still attached to their belt are entered in a prize drawing. This year, the course has been revised so runners are not required to cross any major roads or contend with traffic outside the park. To make up the distance, a couple trail and terrain challenge components have been added to the course. Although families are welcome, please note there are a couple spots on the course that are not stroller friendly and/or where young kids may require assistance.
