All About Band Day 2018 Bench Fundraiser

Williston, N.D. – The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Band Day Committee is pleased to announce the continuation of the “First Chair” fundraising program, designed for those with creative spirits. This year, Band Day is scheduled for May 12.     

The Band Day Committee and CVB are excited to offer the public a creative way to show their support for Williston’s favorite festival through a silent auction. Six benches, crafted by the Williston High School woodworking class, will be available for “adoption” at $50 each. Bench sponsors are asked to decorate and finish their bench, then return it to the CVB by May 7. Benches will offered to the public through silent auction on May 12 in Harmon Park. The CVB is offering a fun alternative to the bench project this year. For those who would like to be involved with a smaller investment, birdhouses will also be available, for a $20 adoption fee. Birdhouse sponsors, just like bench sponsors, are asked to decorate their birdhouse and return it to the CVB by May 7 or before. Alternatively, a business, organization or individual may build, finish and donate a bench or birdhouse if they would like to.

“We thought the bird houses would be a fun way to involve more people,” commented CVB Director Amy Krueger. “Not everyone has room in their yard or at their business for a bench. But everyone has room in their yard or off their balcony for a bird house!”

“On average, Band Day costs about $40,000 to produce,” she noted. “But we only collect about a quarter of that through sponsorships and grants. This fundraiser is a great way for organizations and individuals who can’t help much monetarily to still show their appreciation for the festival. It takes everyone to put Band Day on. It’s a community event.”

Benches and birdhouses will be available for pickup April 23, but those interested in taking a bench can reserve theirs now. Please contact Heather Voll or Amy Krueger for details at 701-774-9041.
