Williston, N.D. – On September 19, Williston will be hosting the Bakken X Trek in Spring Lake Park. This race features 25 obstacles through natural park features including mud, water, swamp and hills as well as some built obstacles including ropes, webs and tires. Runners will enjoy a free beer courtesy of Outlaws and a slice of pizza, along with a registration gift and a prize for finishers. Race waves are set at 75 people to reduce long lines and wait times at obstacles. Those who love to run as a family can take advantage of a ‘family wave’ first thing in the morning. Runners can register for open waves at
www.bakkenxtrek.com.

“At this point, we have about 130 signed up for the X Trek,” commented Race Director Jenn Shanahan, with the Williston Parks and Recreation District. “We are pleased with the response we have had from the community.”

Spring Lake Park will be closed to the general public for the race from 8am-2pm on September 19, but racers, families and all spectators are welcome! Non-delivery vehicles will not be allowed inside the park during the race. The Bakken X Trek will be utilizing most areas of the park including some playground, parking and open water areas. Parking for racers, spectators and volunteers will be available at the Upper Missouri Valley Fairgrounds, with a shuttle available between the fairgrounds and Spring Lake Park.
