Dead Man's Hand Poker Tournament Returns to Williston
Posted: Sep 14 2016
2015 was the first year the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) presented the Dead Man’s Hand Poker Tournament to Williston. Participation was promising enough that the CVB has opted to bring the tournament back this October 15-16 at the Grand Williston Hotel.
This tournament is a two day deep stack with registration starting at 11am at the Grand Williston on October 15. There will be a second flight, evening registration at 5pm. Both the morning and evening flights will be limited to 100 players, for a total of 200 players in the deep stack tourney.
The name "Dead Man's Hand" references the poker hand (black aces and black eights, along with an unknown 'hole' card) held by frontier folk hero, lawman and gunfighter James Butler Hickok, popularly known as Wild Bill Hickok, when he was murdered in the Dakota Territory in 1876.
Special room rates are available for tournament players! Mention “poker tournament” when you call to book a room for details.
