Williston, N.D. – The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau would like to invite the public to the Upper Missouri Valley Fairgrounds on the evening of July 4 for a free community event. Additional community events fill the calendar the rest of the week, as well.
Youth Entertainment On Stage presents “Hello Dolly” from June 30 through July 2. This will be the youth organization’s 31
st
season in Williston. The show will be presented nightly at 7pm at the Old Armory Theater.
July 2, head downtown for sidewalk sales, daytime entertainment and kids’ activities. The Williston Chamber of Commerce will offer their annual rib competition and tasting event, the Phillips & Jordan Rockin' Ribfest, from 4-9pm. The 2nd also marks the kick-off of Summer Nights on Main, a free concert series presented by the Williston Downtowners Association. Summer Nights on Main will offer a free, live band on Thursday evenings in the summer through August 20, 5-9pm. On July 2, the band is 32 Below, sponsored by the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau. If rodeo is more your speed, head out to the Saddle Club Arena at the fairgrounds to see riders compete in events including barrels, poles, trail class, key hole and crazy 8.
Sidewalk sales in downtown Williston continue on July 3, but head out to the Williston Basin Speedway in the evening for the track’s annual Fireworks Special, courtesy of local TNT Fireworks. This year, a number of drivers will be donating doors, hoods, and fenders that the Speedway will auction off during intermission, with proceeds benefiting Relay for Life. The first 100 military members and their spouses will also enjoy free admission to the July 3
rd
races with a military ID. After the races, stay to watch TNT Fireworks light up the sky!
Visit the Williston Downtowners Farmers Market the morning of July 4. In the evening, the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring a live band and a large fireworks display at the Upper Missouri Valley Fairgrounds. Slamabama will be playing 8:30-10:30pm and several vendors will be on hand if you decide you need something delicious to get you through the night. Firestorm Pyrotechnics will start their display, set to music, at 11pm. Firestorm Pyrotechnics produces commercial shows for the likes of Walt Disney World, Pro Rodeo Association and the city of Houston, Texas. Their 25-30 minute display will feature thousands of 3” – 8” mortars and over 5000 total effects. “The finale alone has over 1000 mortars in it,” commented Williston CVB Event Communications Coordinator Sabrina Ramey. “It will be spectacular.” There is no gate admission for this event.
