CVB Honors Tourism Leaders at Annual Meeting
Posted:
Feb 18 2020
Williston, N.D. – The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced nine local tourism awards and offered an update on tourism in North Dakota at its Annual Meeting on February 18, 2020.
CVB executive director Amy Krueger offered information about the department staff and board of directors, key events the CVB produces in Williston, programs the CVB works with and changes the organization has embraced over the last year. The CVB also honored a number of organizations and individuals for their exemplary efforts to make Williston a great destination and promoting it through their words and actions. These included:
Safari Trampoline Park for Attraction of the Year. This venue was eagerly anticipated by locals and residents of surrounding smaller communities, alike. It adds to Williston’s quality of life and provides a fun, unique venue for the every growing population of young families in the area.
Ballin’ in the Basin for Event of the Year. In the short time this Williston Parks & Recreation youth basketball tournament has been in existence, it has grown enormously. The tournament attracts thousands of regional tourists (parents, fans and players) to town and gives youth an opportunity to play teams they would perhaps otherwise never meet on the court.
Upper Missouri Valley Fair for Tourism Organization of the Year. Not only does this nonprofit organization host an outstanding tourism event annually, rain or shine, it is also an exceptional partner and venue for a number of other organizations such as Missouri Basin Bowmen, Williston Basin Speedway, Williams County 4-H program and the Williston Basin Curling Club, among others. The fair also rents out their facilities for additional events, public and private, and constantly seek to improve their grounds.
Brad Peterson, owner of Strike Zone & Sports Den, for Tourism Champion. Brad is an unfailingly positive voice for Williston. His initiative and passion for the town and his love for the bowling alley have resulted in new programs and tournaments and has brought larger state tournaments into town. His continued improvements to the venue have created an attraction for all ages.
The Hospitality Leader of the Year distinction was awarded to Park Ranger Zach Audette with Lewis & Clark State Park and Lexi Lindenberg with Holiday Inn Express & Suites and the Hospitality Employee of the Year distinction was given to Zak Wells with Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham and Lizzy Hendrickson with Motel 6 for their consistent and outstanding service with guests and partners in the tourism industry.
Williston Convention & Visitor Bureau Partner of the Year is a new award, recognizing an outstanding local organization or business that has helped the CVB, through their expertise and dedication, overcome significant challenges or improve community events. The award was given to Triangle Electric for their unfailing patience and sponsorship of festivals Band Day and North Dakota Chokecherry Festival. Their work has greatly improved the number of vendors possible in Harmon Park during these community festivals and allowed both events to grow and thrive.
