Band Day for the Artistically Inclined

Posted: Jan 31 2017
Williston, N.D. – The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Band Day Committee is pleased to announce a new fundraising mechanism for those with creative spirits. This year, Band Day is scheduled for May 12-13, with the parade occurring Saturday morning.

The Band Day Committee and CVB are excited to offer the public a new way to show their support for Williston’s favorite festival through a silent auction. Ten benches, crafted by the Williston High School woodworking class, will be available for $50 each. Bench sponsors are asked to decorate and finish their bench, then return it to the CVB before April 28. Benches will be displayed for two weeks prior to Band Day, then auctioned off on May 13 in Harmon Park. Alternatively, a business may craft, finish and donate a bench to best reflect their company’s mission if they would like to.

“This program is a fun way to add a new element to Band Day while supporting the event itself,” commented CVB Director Amy Krueger. “On average, Band Day costs about $40,000 to produce, but we only collect about a quarter of that through sponsorships and grants. This is a great way for organizations that can’t help much monetarily to still show their appreciation for the festival. It takes everyone to put Band Day on. It’s a community event.”

Benches will be available for pickup March 13, but those interested in taking a bench can reserve theirs now. Please contact Jeremy Wright or Amy Krueger for details at 701-774-9041.
